With their 3rd release in as many months, “new label to be reckoned with” (iDJ magazine) HEAVY DISCO announces the long-awaited debut from Nottingham’s HEXADECIMAL. The tracks “Deep Frequency” and “Brain Machine” have achieved near mythical status over the past couple of years – doing the rounds on CDr courtesy of some of the biggest names in breaks, gaining regular radio play, and
attracting lengthy ongoing threads on breaks message boards, yet never being available on vinyl… until now!

‘Brain Machine has been a trademark track in my sets ever since I got an unfinished version on cdr 2 years ago. It’s phat and has a unique sound which Hexadecimal can proudly call their own!’James Zabiela

About Hexadecimal

Hexadecimal are DJ and production duo Scott Reeder and Ben Harvey from Nottingham, UK. The pair are key players in Nottingham’s famous “Spectrum” club night at Stealth which won best club night in the “Breakspoll” awards in 2003 and 2004. They also have residencies at Detonate, Vagisness in Bristol, Ffaction in London, and their own DJ
agency night ‘Deep Freeks’.

As producers, their fat, bouncy and deeply funky electrobreaks sound is a very individual approach which is both musically refreshing, and a killer on the dancefloor. They have made a number of tantalising releases as remixers, most notably supplying the remix of “From Home” that the Plump DJs used to open their “Fabric Live” compilation CD. However, “Deep Frequency / Brain Machine” is their first full dedicated release on Vinyl.

Deep Frequency

Deep Frequency was produced for Meat Katie’s Bedrock breaks compilation and includes live bass from F.C Kahuna session bassist “The Emperor”. Ultimately the track was too different in character to feature in that compilation, but Meat Katie has been a strong supporter of the track ever since. Other artists to take notice of the track’s unique gloopy bouncy break and constantly developing structure include James Zabiela, Evil 9, The Young Punx and Release Records’ Angus Robinson.

Brain Machine

Brain Machine was first produced in excess of 4 years ago – amazing considering the track still sounds ahead of its time. It has been championed by James Zabiela and has been a trademark track in his sets for the last two years and is currently sought after by breaks DJ’s far and wide. Other DJ’s to take note include Si Begg, Meat Katie, Soul Of Man, Bushwacka and pretty much anyone else who has heard Zabiela drop it. Grassroots demand for this track is at fever pitch with a nuskoolbreaks.co.uk message board thread demanding its release reaching 200 entries!
