With support from Don Diablo, Nolan Kane (Sick Robot) and Phil Faversham, Tasmanian Disco Stampede is the latest project from the East London studio responsible for emerging artists and scenesters, The Young Punx, Goshi Goshi (Southern Fried) and current favourite Phonat, and is quickly becoming a name to watch for 2009.

Taking on the current appetite for nu-wave disco and classic track re-edits, Tasmanian Disco Stampede take it steps further with their creativity. Performing and recording original material in a traditional 70s/80s style, TDS then re-edit and manipulate the audio using modern production techniques. Maintaining all the hallmarks of a classic disco sound, TDS create a totally unique take on a scene that’s becoming increasingly popular.

Debut TDS release “Taking Over”, due for release on boutique label Heavy Disco, is full of pump, funk, grooves, and fucked up glitchiness. The original has been stripped back to provide a dub of pure grooves and Wez Clarke also delivers a straight up disco-house mix under his Disco Lips moniker.

Awesome new talent from Italy releases his debut electro breaks smash which is winning many friends with his fresh original sound

We believe Phonat is the most exciting and fresh sounding new breaks talent we have heard for a very long time. His debut release “One Million / Machine Noise” has been getting awesome feedback.

Over the past year Heavy Disco has made a name for itself as one of breakbeat’s best break-through Labels (2005 Breakspoll Awards nomination) with outstanding releases from Hexadecimal, Infekto, and LBJ, to name but a few. With the phenomenal cross-over success of Medcab ‘Dance’, Heavy Disco have shown that they not only have a knack of breaking forward thinking new music but can also smell out a hit when one presents itself.

Heavy Disco strives to reflect the diversifying tastes of International breakbeat/electro and is pleased to announce the debut release by Phonat, a phenomenal new talent who we
are confident is one of the most exciting and fresh sounding new producers we have heard for a long time.

‘One Million’ and ‘Machine Noise’ are the work of Italian based Michele Balduzzi aka Phonat.
Holed up in Florence, this exciting young producer is a hot club tip from Italy and breakbeat’s answer to Daft Punk. With influences including, and not limited to, Chemical Brothers, Cassius, Motorbass right through to Wu-tang and the Beastie Boys, Phonat’s uncompromising style
takes his music to a new dimension unique to only his productions.

Both tracks are a melting pot of frenzied electro percussion, crisp breaks with sparse digital tweaks and samples all held together with enough funk to satisfy the ladies but tough enough synth-basslines to keep the lads happy. Phonat has crafted a tasty 2-tracker that wouldn’t sound out of place on any dancefloor. From the cooler funk-fuelled floors of ‘Air’ and ‘Chew the Fat!’ to the big room frenzy of ‘Fabric’ and sweaty nights at ‘Breakbeat Connection’ these tunes are gonna
blow!

Massive breaks reworking of ESG's 1982 punk funk classic, with great house and breaks remixes from Move Ya! & Steve Lavers, The Young Punx, Mohito, Muttonheads and Cicada. Club chart top 5, Buzz chart number 5, Radio One.

For two years the elusive medcab has been involved in bringing clubland some of the most innovative and enjoyable bootlegs including no fewer than three DJ Mag “Booty Calls”. Now medcab steps out of the shadows and into the limelight, to bring you another hot reworking of a lost classic, but raising the game with a full suit of name remixes and a full release on up-and-coming label Heavy Disco.

Having been established for less than a year, Heavy Disco is already building a solid reputation for delivering fine pedigree breaks and electro, a reputation that sees them short-listed
in the “Best Break-through Label 2005” category at this year’s Breakspoll Awards. Their first few releases won the support of many a-list DJs and received wide specialist and press acclaim, notably “Brain Machine/Deep Frequency” by Hexadecimal being catapulted straight
to the no.1 spot in the prestigious DJ Mag’s Beats n Breaks chart. With the new-year’s schedule set they’re primed for their next instalment.

Originally written and produced in 1982 by seminal New York electro act ESG, “Dance” has since been featured in the popular, nationwide ad-campaign for the Toyota “Verso” – the one featuring two female surfer dancers. Now replayed and remixed for a 2005 audience, it’s the kind of funky, quality breakbeat that is firing up revitalised dancefloors across the country – cool but with enough crossover appeal to ensure it joins the ranks of the genre’s growing list of chart/crossover successes so far enjoyed by the likes of The Freestylers and Adam Freeland.

‘Dance’ is the work of Hal Ritson (aka The Young Punx, Mohito & Just Hal) and Nathan Taylor (medcab presents…), with vocals from the talented Tiffany Gore. Hal Ritson is no stranger to dance music’s a-list with current mixes of Phunx Nouveaux ‘Whatever’ and Headstrong ‘Fuse- Move Your Body’ being supported on Radio 1 by Pete Tong. Judge Jules and Annie Nightingale have long since been advocates of his Young Punx sound whilst A&R managers across the country reach for their cheque books to have him replay any uncleared samples. Recent work includes the No.1 smash “Call On Me” by Eric Prydz and The Lovefreekz “Shine”; another top-10 hit!

For the remix package, Mohito follow their recent club chart success of ‘Slip Away’, with
a re-rub that injects the original vocal with a dose of their signature jazz-house riffs and deep grooves, while rising French producers Muttonheads pick up the pace, adapting the vocals to compliment their smouldering unique electro-house style; serious big room business that
should see its reach extend beyond house DJs alone. Camden boys Move Ya! & Steve Lavers inject a serious dark funk edged breaks mix and last, but by no means least, The Young Punx, renowned for bridging the ever decreasing gap between house and breaks, deliver a huge bass-driven cut fit for any peak time floors that have the energy to handle it!

Also available: 7” & 12” versions loyal to the original 1982 ESG version.

NOTE : This track is now licensed to Nebula records from Heavy Disco, and can most easily be found to purchase on the Nebula imprint.

Innovative gloopy electro breaks with support from Meat Katie, James Zabiela, Bushwacka, DJ Hyper, Angus Robinson, Annie Nightingale and the Plump DJs.

With their 3rd release in as many months, “new label to be reckoned with” (iDJ magazine) HEAVY DISCO announces the long-awaited debut from Nottingham’s HEXADECIMAL. The tracks “Deep Frequency” and “Brain Machine” have achieved near mythical status over the past couple of years – doing the rounds on CDr courtesy of some of the biggest names in breaks, gaining regular radio play, and
attracting lengthy ongoing threads on breaks message boards, yet never being available on vinyl… until now!

‘Brain Machine has been a trademark track in my sets ever since I got an unfinished version on cdr 2 years ago. It’s phat and has a unique sound which Hexadecimal can proudly call their own!’ – James Zabiela

About Hexadecimal

Hexadecimal are DJ and production duo Scott Reeder and Ben Harvey from Nottingham, UK. The pair are key players in Nottingham’s famous “Spectrum” club night at Stealth which won best club night in the “Breakspoll” awards in 2003 and 2004. They also have residencies at Detonate, Vagisness in Bristol, Ffaction in London, and their own DJ
agency night ‘Deep Freeks’.

As producers, their fat, bouncy and deeply funky electrobreaks sound is a very individual approach which is both musically refreshing, and a killer on the dancefloor. They have made a number of tantalising releases as remixers, most notably supplying the remix of “From Home” that the Plump DJs used to open their “Fabric Live” compilation CD. However, “Deep Frequency / Brain Machine” is their first full dedicated release on Vinyl.

Deep Frequency

Deep Frequency was produced for Meat Katie’s Bedrock breaks compilation and includes live bass from F.C Kahuna session bassist “The Emperor”. Ultimately the track was too different in character to feature in that compilation, but Meat Katie has been a strong supporter of the track ever since. Other artists to take notice of the track’s unique gloopy bouncy break and constantly developing structure include James Zabiela, Evil 9, The Young Punx and Release Records’ Angus Robinson.

Brain Machine

Brain Machine was first produced in excess of 4 years ago – amazing considering the track still sounds ahead of its time. It has been championed by James Zabiela and has been a trademark track in his sets for the last two years and is currently sought after by breaks DJ’s far and wide. Other DJ’s to take note include Si Begg, Meat Katie, Soul Of Man, Bushwacka and pretty much anyone else who has heard Zabiela drop it. Grassroots demand for this track is at fever pitch with a nuskoolbreaks.co.uk message board thread demanding its release reaching 200 entries!

Progressive soundscapes on Diamond Cut and vocodered robotic funk on Electrolux make for a killer cut.

If Binary Star needs an introduction then Ben Burns and Jake Smith aka Subtropic & Burns certainly do not. With tracks already out on 2-Wars and Sonic Tonic, production credits for Southern Fried’s Caged Baby and Brighton’s Stompaphunk crew plus a string of high profile remixes under their belts then you can be certain their debut 12” on Heavy Disco is going to be nothing short of quality.

Teaming up with Jim Attrell, based at the Third
Degree Studio, Brighton Binary Star is a production collective combining their talents. Their bootleg release on the medcab presents… series “Left Eye” first brought their sharp funky sound to our attention gaining the support of many breaks stalwarts including Will Saul, Krafty Kuts and fellow Brighton boy Skool of Thought.

Diamond Cut/Electrolux is their debut release on Heavy Disco and our second 12”
in as many months.

Lead track on this 2-tracker is the beautifully crafted, ethereal Diamond Cut. Solid, slick beats with a deep progressive bassline; this track is sheer quality as it carves its way into your consciousness. The massive breakdown sets the perfect tone and will have the dance floor convinced that you’re the most bloody fantastic DJ ever as the electronic wonders of Binary Star make way for a full and sensual sound explosion!

Already Diamond Cut has lent itself well to the sets of some of the finest Worldwide DJs including, and not limited to, James Zabelia, Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa,
the mighty Santos and Precision Cuts. It may not be big basslines but you can guarantee it will still get big reactions.

Heavy Disco's debut release is a stunning compilation of fresh breakbeat from the hip sub-arctic city of Helsinki, featuring some of the international dons of breaks, and some new faces too. The sound is tough and electro, but with a strong quirky sense of humour.

Forget London, forget Canada and forget Australia… Having taken over the world of Rock courtesy of HIM and The Rasmus, Finland is also where it’s at right now for breakbeat too and new label to watch “Heavy Disco” are there already! Hand picking 4 of the hottest breaks producers to feature on our first release was by no means and easy task but we think we’ve done it with just the right amount of style. The two better known acts featured are slowly becoming household names in breakbeat. The mighty LBJ with a string of releases under his belt including most recently material pressed by seminal London breaks label Botchit & Scarper hits home with ‘Graffiti Techno’ – “razor sharp beats, making for a breakbeat connection balls-out killer cut!” (Mole – Boombox).

Holding his own and adding strength to the EP; Infekto, of De La Soul bootleg fame(!), is no stranger to making beats with tracks released by Aquasky’s Passenger label, Hospital and most recently (under his Rico Tubbs pseudonym) Jay Cunning and Terry Hooligan’s Menu Music. ‘Bring It’, is 100% party funk beats and big room basslines.

In addition: We are also proud to present debut tracks by
two hot up and coming Finnish producers, which also we should add come under high recommendation from our two hero heavyweights from Finland already listed.
Takomo with their deep and relentless bass-fuelled account opener ‘Interplanetary Warfare’ is a great tune for the late/early hours hardcore crew, while Munchies teases us with their tongue in cheek beats and pieces track ‘Scientifically Fascinating’ primed for cheeky mix filling!
