 Over
the past year Heavy Disco has made a name for itself as one
of breakbeat’s best break-through Labels (2005 Breakspoll
Awards nomination) with outstanding releases from Hexadecimal,
Infekto, and LBJ, to name but a few. With the phenomenal cross-over
success of Medcab ‘Dance’, Heavy Disco have shown
that they not only have a knack of breaking forward thinking
new music but can also smell out a hit when one presents itself.
Heavy Disco strives to reflect the diversifying tastes of
International breakbeat/electro and is pleased to announce
the debut release by Phonat, a phenomenal new talent who we
are confident is one of the most exciting and fresh sounding
new producers we have heard for a long time.
‘One Million’ and ‘Machine Noise’
are the work of Italian based Michele Balduzzi aka Phonat.
Holed up in Florence, this exciting 22 year-old producer is
a hot club tip from Italy and breakbeat’s answer to
Daft Punk. With influences including, and not limited to,
Chemical Brothers, Cassius, Motorbass right through to Wu-tang
and the Beastie Boys, Phonat’s uncompromising style
takes his music to a new dimension unique to only his productions.
Both tracks are a melting pot of frenzied electro percussion,
crisp breaks with sparse digital tweaks and samples all held
together with enough funk to satisfy the ladies but tough
enough synth-basslines to keep the lads happy. Phonat has
crafted a tasty 2-tracker that wouldn’t sound out of
place on any dancefloor. From the cooler funk-fuelled floors
of ‘Air’ and ‘Chew the Fat!’ to the
big room frenzy of ‘Fabric’ and sweaty nights
at ‘Breakbeat Connection’ these tunes are gonna
blow!
Now signed to Heavy Disco, and further releases lined up on
Splank! Phonat is about to make his mark as one defiantly
to watch and our tip for 2006.
