PRESS RELEASE
Medcab - "Dance"
For two years the elusive medcab has been involved
in bringing clubland some of the most innovative and enjoyable
bootlegs including no fewer than three DJ Mag “Booty
Calls”. Now medcab steps out of the shadows and into
the limelight, to bring you another hot reworking of a lost
classic, but raising the game with a full suit of name remixes
and a full release on up-and-coming label Heavy Disco.
Having been established for less than a year, Heavy Disco
is already building a solid reputation for delivering fine
pedigree breaks and electro, a reputation that sees them short-listed
in the “Best Break-through Label 2005”
category at this year’s Breakspoll Awards. Their first
few releases won the support of many a-list DJs and received
wide specialist and press acclaim, notably “Brain Machine/Deep
Frequency” by Hexadecimal being catapulted straight
to the no.1 spot in the prestigious DJ Mag’s
Beats n Breaks chart. With the new-year’s schedule
set they’re primed for their next instalment.
Originally written and produced in 1982 by seminal
New York electro act ESG, “Dance” has since been
featured in the popular, nationwide ad-campaign for the Toyota
“Verso” – the one featuring two
female surfer dancers. Now replayed and remixed for a 2005
audience, it’s the kind of funky, quality breakbeat
that is firing up revitalised dancefloors across the country
- cool but with enough crossover appeal to ensure it joins
the ranks of the genre’s growing list of chart/crossover
successes so far enjoyed by the likes of The Freestylers and
Adam Freeland.
‘Dance’ is the work of Hal Ritson (aka The Young
Punx, Mohito & Just Hal) and Nathan Taylor (medcab presents…),
with vocals from the talented Tiffany Gore. Hal Ritson is
no stranger to dance music’s a-list with current mixes
of Phunx Nouveaux 'Whatever' and Headstrong 'Fuse- Move Your
Body' being supported on Radio 1 by Pete Tong. Judge Jules
and Annie Nightingale have long since been advocates of his
Young Punx sound whilst A&R managers across the country
reach for their cheque books to have him replay any uncleared
samples. Recent work includes the No.1 smash “Call On
Me” by Eric Prydz and The Lovefreekz “Shine”;
another top-10 hit!
For the remix package, Mohito follow their
recent club chart success of ‘Slip Away’, with
a re-rub that injects the original vocal with a dose of their
signature jazz-house riffs and deep grooves, while rising
French producers Muttonheads pick up the
pace, adapting the vocals to compliment their smouldering
unique electro-house style; serious big room business that
should see its reach extend beyond house DJs alone. Camden
boys Move Ya! & Steve Lavers inject a
serious dark funk edged breaks mix and last, but by no means
least, The Young Punx, renowned for bridging
the ever decreasing gap between house and breaks, deliver
a huge bass-driven cut fit for any peak time floors that have
the energy to handle it!
Also available: 7” & 12” versions loyal to
the original 1982 ESG version.
