Undercover - Issue 16 (September)
Single of the Month
"Binary Star offer up two very different tracks for the
second release on Heavy Disco. Diamond Cut is a progressive
jocks wet dream with its slick building breaks and uplifting,
drawn out breakdown - everyone from Sasha to Zabelia should
be dropping this wicked little tune. Electrolux takes you
on a completely different journey altogether where gruff drums
are coupled with relentless electro synth stabs to make for
a proper Shoreditch hoe down of the highest order. We is lovin
this."
4/5
DJ mag, September 2004
On the lead cut here Subtropic & Burns have created a
progressive breaks diamond that's already being caned by the
breaks/prog crossover boys (Zabiela, Pappa, etc). Bedrock-y
washes and hypnotic fills make for a restrained-yet-funky
scene stealer, while overleaf we're particularly loving 'Electrolux'.
Dirty electro body-popping, a dirty electro vox and dirty
mechanised machine funk make for a funky slice of futurist
technoid freakbeat. 4 stars. (CL)
DJ Mag Beats and Breaks chart - number 31
Update Magazine
“Diamond Cut” is driving electro-breaks with a
warm, lush sound and progressive vibe. The breakdown is slightly
kooky too, and works really well. The flipside’s “Electrolux”
ups the electro quota with some vocoder action. 4/5 Dancin'
Men.

Both sides on this are really nice. Electrolux has the edge
for me, packed with energy reminds of an old santos remix
I never got hold of so I'm well chuffed! Gone down well out,
will be playing it in my later peak time sets. Really gets
people moving!
Medcab (Kiss / Ministry of Sound)

This is a wicked, tough EP....from the start, with its clean,
intense atmospheric textures and driving beats, it grabs you
and doesn't let go.... Well produced, it's a great mix of
all the things I love in music...really well balanced! Fantastic!
Ollie (Supercharged)
Great 12" with two contrasting but equally good cuts.
I prefer 'Electrolux' as it's a bit more jackin', electro
stylee! Currently number 8 in my chart and has already received
plays on my radio show.
Bengston (Ritmic, Switzerland)
“love it”
Clive Morley (Supatronix)

Went down very well, especially the nice airy fairy trancey
breakdown.
Decky Hedrock (Hedrock Valley Beats)
Tough chugging production, on Diamond Cut - will try and use
Electrolux - great 80s vibe! Nice change of mood, works well.
