Binary Star
‘Diamond Cut/Electrolux’
Release date: Late September 04
Cat# HVD002
If Binary Star needs an introduction then
Ben Burns and Jake Smith
aka Subtropic & Burns certainly do not.
With tracks already out on 2-Wars and Sonic
Tonic, production credits for Southern Fried’s
Caged Baby and Brighton’s Stompaphunk
crew plus a string of high profile remixes under their belts
then you can be certain their debut 12” on Heavy Disco
is going to be nothing short of quality.
Teaming
up with Jim Attrell, based at the Third
Degree Studio, Brighton Binary Star is a production
collective combining their talents. Their bootleg release
on the medcab presents… series "Left Eye"
first brought their sharp funky sound to our attention gaining
the support of many breaks stalwarts including Will
Saul, Krafty Kuts and fellow Brighton boy Skool
of Thought.
Diamond Cut/Electrolux
is their debut release on Heavy Disco and our second 12”
in as many months.
Lead track on this 2-tracker is the beautifully crafted, ethereal
Diamond Cut. Solid, slick beats with a deep
progressive bassline; this track is sheer quality as it carves
its way into your consciousness. The massive breakdown sets
the perfect tone and will have the dance floor convinced that
you’re the most bloody fantastic DJ ever as the electronic
wonders of Binary Star make way for a full and sensual sound
explosion!
Already Diamond Cut has lent itself well to the sets of some
of the finest Worldwide DJs including, and not limited to,
James Zabelia, Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa,
the mighty Santos and Precision Cuts.
It may not be big basslines but you can guarantee it will
still get big reactions.
On flip make way for the Meat Katie favoured
Electrolux. Phat body popping, booty shaking
beats, and fucked up humanised washing machines, proper filthy
electro style!
With quality acts like Binary Star gracing the Heavy Disco
roster expect big things from us in the future.
